Friends of Israel from five European countries met here over the weekend to endorse the Middle East peace conference in Madrid and wish it success.
Prague played host to members of Israel friendship societies from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Romania and Czechoslovakia. They adopted a resolution supporting the search for peace in the Middle East.
It called on all parties in Madrid to open a “real dialogue” aimed at a just and lasting peace, with security between Israel and its neighbors.
The resolution also expressed sympathy and appreciation to Israel for absorbing hundreds of thousands of new immigrants, finding them homes and work.
Finally, it urged the U.N. General Assembly to rescind its 1975 resolution denigrating Zionism as a form of racism.
