Israel Sachs, a founder of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York and a director of the United Jewish Appeal, died in Ferndale, N.Y., where he was vacationing, at the age of 75.
Mr. Sachs was one of the leading merchants in this city. He was active in numerous charitable, welfare and religious causes and was cited on several occasions for his contributions to curbing interracial bias. He was born in Russia and came to the United States at the age of 20.
