The Hashomer Hatzair newspaper “Al Hemishmer” said today that despite the complete blackout on the current proceedings of the Israel-Syrian armistice commission, reports reaching Tel Aviv after its meeting at Rosh Pina indicate that a complete deadlock has resulted in the negotiations over the disposition of the Sea of Galiee settlement of Ein Gov.
The paper notes that the deadlock will reach its “culminating point” on Wednesday, Oct. 12, which is the maturity date of 12 weeks provided by the Israel-Syrian armistice agreement for the complete evacuation of the central strip of the front area, including the battered settlement of Mishmar Hayarden.
It is believed the Syrians are reluctant to evacuate the area on the grounds that the Jews refuse to comply with the commission’s resolution calling for the removal of new colonies recently erected near Ein Gev which are considered as violations of the armistice pact.
