Israeli security agents have uncovered a Hamas cell in the West Bank whose members had planned attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.
The Israel Defense Force said Hattem Yousef Mohammed Ziare, 24, of the Jabalya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, had confessed to investigators that he had been recruited by a senior Hamas militant in Gaza to organize the cell in the West Bank.
The cell was discovered near Tulkarm, from which Israeli forces recently withdrew.
Ziare said he had recruited two Tulkarm residents to help him set up the Hamas cell.
The IDF said the cell had planned suicide bombings and stabbing attacks.
Some 15 Tulkarm residents were arrested in the operation, which was conducted by the IDF and Israeli police.
