Israel will ask the Vatican to intervene in a dispute over the construction of an emergency exit in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem’s Old City, a government committee said. The panel said in a statement that installing the emergency entrance is essential for safety in anticipation of the throng of pilgrims expected to visit the shrine during the millennium year.
