Israeli officials said they expect the siege on Yasser Arafat’s Ramallah compound to continue, despite a U.N. Security Council vote demanding an immediate halt to the operation. Following lengthy debate early Tuesday, the council voted 14-0, with the United States abstaining, on a resolution calling on Israel to end the siege and on the Palestinian Authority to bring terrorists to justice.
