Lawmakers reached a compromise to postpone the premier’s scheduled state-of-the-state speech, which is required under Knesset rules at the start of each legislative year. Labor and Likud legislators invoked a constitutional clause to request “faction consultations,” delaying Netanyahu’s scheduled address by one week.
