Israel’s chief justice, Aharon Barak, delayed the start of a three-year jail term for former Shas Party leader Aryeh Deri until the court decides whether to hold another hearing in his appeal. The court last month upheld Deri’s conviction for bribe-taking and fraud, but lessened his sentence from four years to three.
