Israel’s deputy education minister called for Jewish-only schools in order to prevent assimilation. Knesset member Avraham Ravitz said he is concerned about Jewish youth being led astray by mixing with non-Jewish students, including children of foreign workers, former members of the South Lebanon Army and immigrants who are not Jewish according to Jewish law, many of whom are from the former Soviet Union.
