The officers’ corps of the Israel Army includes commissioned officers who hail from 50 countries of five continents. Prime Minister David Ben Gurion declared today. Mr. Ben Gurion made that statement while addressing an officers’ graduating class at a camp officially designated only as “somewhere in Israel.”
Speaking as Minister of Defense, Mr. Ben Gurion revealed that 37 percent of the officers in Israel’s defense forces are “Sabras,” native-born, while the remainder were born in 23 European countries. 10 countries in Asia, eight in the Americas, seven in Africa, and some in Australia.
