The Times of London loosed an editorial blast today at the efforts of Secretary of State Dulles and President Eisenhower to press Israel withdrawal from the Gaza and Akaba areas on the grounds that Israel is a state which has a decent respect for the opinions of the world.
“Is the United Nations to press those ‘decent’ countries which are more likely to give way in the end, while allowing free rein to stubborn governments such as Egypt–or the Soviet Government which is still in defiance of United Nations resolutions on Hungary?” the Times asked. “That seems to be the lesson to be drawn from the recent record of the United Nations, and Mr. Dulles seemed to support and strengthen it in his next words.”
