Trustees of the Jullus Galland estate voted $25,000 to Temple Keneseth Israel. Orthodox synugogue. The money is to be used in remodeling the synagogue.
At the same meeting $10,000 was voted to the Shrine Orthopedic Hospital of Spokane where the money will be used in the erection of a new wing at St. Luke’s hospital.
Through the generosity of the Galland estate completion of the Temple Emanu-El has been made possible. Started in 1920, the auditorium and other parts of the interior have been left unfinished because of lack of funds. Services are now held in the auditorium of the community center during completion of the Temple after which the Center will be remodeled. Temple Emanu-El when completed, will represent a cost of from $80,000 to $100,000.
Rabbi J. Gerson Brenner, Perth Amboy. N. J. who came to Spokane as guest Rabbi for the High Holidays was elected Rabbi for Temple Emanu-El.
