A total of $5,259,000 has been appropriated for the month of August to aid Jews in Europe, the Middle East Latin America, Africa and Shanghai, it was announced here over the week-end by the Joint Distribution Committee.
The allocations include $755,000 for emigration projects, the announcement said. This is the largest sum set aside during any month since this year for this purposed, J.D.C officials pointed out. The August grant brings to $46,726,000 the amount allocated in the first eight months of 1948 by the J.D.C.
