One pound of relief supplies for each of the surviving Jews of Europe–1,400,000 pounds–has been contributed by American Jews to the Joint Distribution Committee’s S.O.S. drive, the organization announced here today.
The Supplies for Overseas Survivors campaign has already shipped 1,000,000 pounds, which represents five percent of the national goal of 20,000,000, to the Jews of Europe. Among the 15 tons of supplies daily reaching the Mr. Vernon warehouse of the drive are included canned food, medical supplies, clothing, soap, and household supplies. Sixteen Jewish national and women’s groups are cooperating with the J.D.C. in the drive.
