Plans are under way here for the construction of a water pipeline from the river Yarkon to Jerusalem, thus providing a solution to the century-old problem of drought in the capital city.
Intermediate pumping stations are to be constructed in Kubab, a village on the Jerusalem-Jaffa route, and at another point high above Jerusalem where no motive power will be required for piping the water to the city.
Diesel engines, machinery and piping are being ordered from England at the cost of a quarter of a million pounds. The actual work of construction will cost one hundred thousand pounds and will be financed out of the funds of the proposed Palestine loan.
