Several violent explosions shook the city of Jerusalem at 12:45 a.m. today when bombs placed by Jewish terrorists exploded in the building housing British district police headquarters. The upper floors of the four story building, which is located in the center of the city were destroyed and several policemen who were billeted there were injured.
One constable was killed during a running gun battle with about ton unidentified men, who, it is believed, planted the bombs. The terrorists were armed with tommy guns and other weapons, police said. Last night’s bombing was the most serious outbreed of terror here since the police headquarters in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa were blasted simultaneously last March.
