A large number of Jewish and general charitable institutions are the beneficiaries of the will of Henry Philip Goldschmidt, head of the banking house of H. P. Goldschmidt & Co. who died March 16.
Besides bequests to his widow, family and fourteen employees, $25,000 is left for the Montefiore Hospital for Chronic Invalids, $25,000 and the Mount Sinai Hospital, and the Charity Organizations Society, New York Association for the Improvement of the Poor, Henry Street Settlement, Presbyterian Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Flower Hospital, Broad Street Hospital, Post-Graduate Hospital, Sloane Hospital for Women, Roosevelt Hospital and Monmouth Memorial Hospital at Long Branch, N. J. are each left $5,000.
A clause of the will provides that “in the event any employee was in the service of the U. S. government or in the U.S. Army during the World War, the time served in the army by such employee should be counted, as if he had been continuously in the service of H.P. Goldschmidt & Co.”
