The protest of Britain, France and other European governments against the refusal of the West German Government to include victims of Nazi persecutions from their countries among the beneficiaries of Germany’s indemnification legislation has no connection whatsoever with the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, it was pointed out here today.
It was emphasized that the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany is in no way involved, legally or otherwise, in the payment of indemnification claims arising from Nazi action. The Conference distributes its funds for the relief, rehabilitation and resettlement of Jewish victims of Nazi persecution in the areas of greatest need through established Jewish social and communal organizations, it was stressed.
