Jakob Lescinsky, Berlin correspondent of the “Jewish Daily Forward” of New York, was arrested Friday charged with having exaggerated the extent of the pogrom in the cables dispatched to his newspaper.
On Saturday Lescinsky was released and placed under police surveillance. The affair took an unexpected turn Sunday with the rearrest of the correspondent and his confinement in a solitary cell.
Lescinsky’s rearrest was ordered by Lieutenant General Horn, Military Commandant of Berlin, who alleges that Lescinsky exaggerated in his American dispatches the facts concerning the events of last week, therebt discrediting Germany’s name.
