A special conference of Jewish farmers in the Republic of Poland will take place during October, according to an announcement made today.
The conference was called to cope with problems resulting from the crop failure on Jewish tobacco plantations in the Grodno region, and the failure of the plantations in Volhynia and the cucumber farms in Polesia.
An appeal is to be issued for assistance to tide the farmers over their difficulties until next year. The Jewish farmers now lack the means for seed. Only a small percentage of them are supervised by the Jewish Colonization Association and the Ort, society for the promotion of trades and agriculture, while the majority of them receive no outside assistance.
