An announcement was made today that a park, including a forest and sites for a hospital and sports stadium, will be build on a stretch of land near Dimona, Israel, on the way to Sde Boker, the home of David Ben-Gurion, in honor of Israel’s first Prime Minister whose 80th birthday is currently being celebrated.
The decision to establish this park was announced jointly by Jacob Tsur, chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem; Herman L. Weisman, president of the Jewish National Fund of America; and Dr. Milton Aron, national director of the JNF. They said the officials of the township of Dimona hailed the announcement as an important step in the township’s development as a civic and health center for the entire Negev. in a manifesto issued by the JNF to American Jewry, today, it was stated: “American Jews feel a great debt of gratitude to David Ben-Gurion for his historic achievements for the Jewish people and the State of Israel.”
