Nuns are being enrolled as nurses in municipal kindergartens while Jewish nurses are being systematically discharged, a city-wide Jewish Telegraphic Agency survey completed today revealed.
The kindergartens; which comprise all the children of the poorer and middle classes between three and six years of age, are slowly coming under Catholic influence.
Jewish parents are reacting to this tendency by withdrawing their children from the kindergartens. Those who have sufficient financial resources send their children to special Jewish schools. Others allow their children to while their time away on Vienna’s streets receiving their instruction from urchins rather than in kindergartens.
