The Jewish parties of Rumania today agreed to place their candidates for the coming parliamentary elections on the joint slate of the democratic bloc. In effect, this move means that Rumanian Jewry supports the Groza government.
The Jewish parties have been allotted three seats in the parliament. The Jewish Party, which includes all the Zionist groups, has nominated Dr. Bernard Rohrlich, former president of the Zionist organization. Dr. William Filderman’s Union of Rumanian Jews named Dr. Eduard Manulescu, vice-president of the Union, while the Democratic Committee has nominated Anghel Dashcalu Leaterf of the Hashomer Hatzair.
In addition to these three, there will be some 20 other Jews sitting in the parliament as representatives of general Rumanian parties–mostly as representatives of the Socialists and Communists.
