Two Jewish scientists were among the recipients today of the Ernest O. Lawrence Memorial Awards given by the National Science Foundation for contributions to the field of nuclear science.
They are Dr. Herbert Goldstein, professor of nuclear engineering at Columbia University, who was cited for significant contributions to reactor physics and to nuclear cross sections; and Dr. Richard Feynman, professor of theoretical physics at the California Institute of Technology, for important contributions to quantum field theory and particle physics.
