Victims of the recent demonstration in Munich were shot in the back by German police as they attempted to flee, it was revealed to day by affidavits received by B’nai B’rith headquarters here. The affidavits were obtained by Saul Joftes, director of the B’nai B’rith European office in Paris, who was sent to Munich to investigate immediately after the incident took place.
Two Jews who were shot in the back while fleeing German police made sworn statements to the B’nai B’rith. They were Benjamin Haring, 39, and Leib Ribach, 29, natives of Poland, who dictated their testimony from hospital beds. Both men escaped gassing by the Nazis during the war.
