Expanded and improved medical services for Jewish aged in institutions and in the community are recommended in a report approved by the trustees of the Jewish Welfare Federation, under whose auspices a study on care of Jewish aged in Greater Cleveland was undertaken.
The study consisted of a detailed analysis of the case records of Jewish men and woman over 60 known to Cleveland’s social agencies and hospitals, both private and tax-supported. A total of 1,243 Jewish men and women was covered by the survey, which estimated the number of Jewish men and women in Cuyahoga County over 60 at about 9,175. Three-quarters of those reported on were classed as “physically ill,” while only 11 percent were rated both “physically and mentally well,”
