Jews and Arabs fraternized and exchanged friendly greeting on non-political ground, as one Arab guest remarked, when the S.S. Jerusalem, of the Lloyd Triestino line, renamed from Cracovia, reached these shores on its maiden voyage. Leaders of the Jewish Agency, the Vaad Leumi, Keren Kayemeth, Keren Hayesod, the Agudath Israel, and representatives of the principal newspapers here were present.
The boat, an 8,500 tonner is white with a narrow girdle of blue just below the upper decks, a subtle tribute to its future cargo–thousands of Jewish immigrants to Palestine.
The Lloyd Triestino recently renamed one of its boats to S.S. Tel Aviv.
