Concern was aroused by the new method of incitement against the Jews by putting on the blame for the dereliction of Colonel Ernst Roehm and other Nazi leaders who lost their lives in the executions since last Saturday. Jews were accused of fomenting the “plot,” and a certain prominent German-Jewish journalist now in Paris was charged with being the go-between for the French government and General Kurt von Schleicher, who was slain last Saturday. The French Embassy denied having anything to do with any move to unseat the Hitler regime.
