The President of Bolivia, Dr. Enrique Hertzog, today received a delegation of Jewish leaders who told him of the alarm felt among Jews in the country as a result of the violent campaign against the admission of Jewish immigrants into Bolivia now being conducted by newspapers opposing the present government.
The delegation told the President that as a result of this campaign several anti-Jewish incidents have occurred in the streets of La Paz. The windows of a Jewish center were broken when the building was stoned in one of these incidents, it was revealed.
The President assured the delegation that all inhabitants of Bolivia enjoy equal rights, regardless of race or religion. He emphasized that the authorities would be instructed to protect the property and security of every resident, without making any distinction between Jews and non-Jews.
