The Federation of Jewish Communities in Brazil today urged all Jews in the country to register as Brazilians of the Jewish faith in the national census which is being launched by the government this week,
One question on the census sheets inquires into the religion of those being enumerated. The Federation has requested that all Jews, including those who are not affiliated with synagogues, register as Jewish. As a result of this year’s census it is hoped that reliable figures may be obtained about the number of Jews in Brazil.
