The Jewish communities of Spain have sought affiliation with the World Jewish Congress. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the WJC, announced this development at a meeting of the North American executive of the World Jewish Congress here.
Dr. Goldmann welcomed the decision of the Spanish Jewish communities and said that their application would be formally discussed when the global executive of the World Jewish Congress meets in July. The decision on the part of Spanish Jewry, which number 4, 000, was taken following a meeting between representatives of the two major community in Barcelona and Madrid.
Mr. Samuel Bronfman, vice-president of the WJC, who presided over the meeting in Congress House, stated that for the first time the World Jewish Congress would hold its World Executive session in Jerusalem, from July 12-16.
