The Jews of Transylvania have formed a Protection Committee comprising all the Jewish parties in the province, to protect the Jewish population against any possible steps which may be taken by the authorities to curtail their rights. The Committee has been brought into existance mainly because of the fear that the Government may make use of the uncertainty which exists about the number of Jews who are entitled to citizenship, in order to expel from the country those whose citizenship is not indisputable. The Committee will endeavor also to secure an extension of citizenship rights to embrace the whole of the Jewish population of the province.
Deputy Dr. Fildermann attended the initial meeting of the Committee and assured the members that the Union of Roumanian Jews will give them every support in their demands.
