Dr. Jonas E. Salk, the Jewish scientist who developed the first anti-polio vaccine, was honored by President Johnson and Congress yesterday on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Government’s approval of the Salk vaccine as “safe, potent and effective” against paralytic polio. President Johnson called Dr. Salk to the White House to congratulate him personally. The Senate and House of Representatives adopted a joint resolution expressing the nation’s gratitude to Dr. Salk.
