Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban of Israel told a press conference here today that joint development projects undertaken or projected with Colombia included the fields of administration, vocational education, water exploration and electronics.
The press conference marked the close of Mr. Eban’s state visit to Colombia on a tour of Latin American countries. He was scheduled to go to New York before returning to Israel. He also told the press conference that Israeli-Colombian joint projects would include participation in youth training.
He reported that all Colombian leaders with whom he had spoken had expressed a desire to extend such programs. He expressed satisfaction with assurances he had received at a meeting with President Valencia and leading Ministers about Colombia’s decision to strengthen its friendly ties with Israel.
The visiting Deputy Premier was tendered a dinner at the home of Israeli ambassador Yaacov Yinon, which was attended by eight Cabinet Ministers, two former Presidents, the heads of the armed services, and political party leaders.
Informed sources said that Colombian-Israeli friendship had never found more impressive expression than the response to Mr. Eban’s visit. The press in Bogota featured Mr. Eban’s addresses in the Senate and House, and his impressive use of Spanish in his addresses.
