Prime Minister Levi Eshkol repeated last night that he thought the Jordan River is the natural frontier of Israel in the East. He made the remark at a question-and-answer session with delegates to the Hadassah mid-winter conference here. He urged the ladies, representing over 300,000 members of the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, to do all in their power to promote aliyah – immigration to Israel.
Mr. Eshkol has called the Jordan River a natural frontier on previous occasions, though he never stated specifically whether this meant a political frontier as well. He said last night that the river should be an “open border” between the West and East banks.
