The Jordanian representative to the United Nations today submitted a list to Secretary-General U Thant containing 51 instances of alleged Israeli violations of the cease-fire agreement said to have taken place between Aug. 5 and Sept. 29, 1968.
In a letter accompanying the list, the Jordanian Ambassador, Muhammad H. el-Farra, said “most of the 51 Israeli attacks cited…were directed against Jordanian villages and farms.” He said “In certain cases, Israeli armed forces penetrated deep into Jordanian territory south of the Dead Sea in utter disregard of the Armistice Agreement. In these cases, Israeli soldiers fired at shepherds and their sheep. In other incidents, Israeli soldiers penetrated into the East Bank of the Jordan and laid mines on farm roads killing Jordanian farmers. In other cases, mosques and schools were shelled and destroyed.” Mr. el-Farra said Jordan held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for the alleged attacks and asked that his letter and accompanying list be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and the Security Council.
