Justice Abe Fortas of the United States Supreme Court today told an audience celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America that the Negroes have replaced the Jews as the “shock troops in the war for humanity and human values.” He said that Negroes rather than Jews today represent the advance guard of the struggle for social justice in America.
