Rabbi Meir Kahane arrived here from Israel last night and said he was going to organize demonstrations against Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger. The former leader of the Jewish Defense League was greeted by about 100 supporters at Kennedy Airport. He said the demonstrations would take place outside Kissinger’s home and office in Washington during the next few weeks.
“It’s about time the myth of Henry Kissinger as a savior is punctured,” said Kahane who was active in demonstrations against Soviet diplomats in the U.S. before he moved to Israel in June 1971. He alleged that Kissinger’s policy of detente with the Soviet Union weakened the U.S. and “caused the sacrifice of people behind the Iron Curtain.” He said the Kissinger policies were “dangerous not only to Israel but to this country as well.”
Kahane, who must return to Israel to face trial Nov. 17 on arms smuggling charges, said he expected to be arrested during his stay in the U.S. “as there are more and more effective demonstrations against Kissinger.”
