Meir Kahane, leader of the Jewish Defense League, has accused Superintendent E. Jenson of the Allenwood, Pa. Federal Prison of refusing to provide him with a kosher diet despite an order by Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the Eastern District Court in New York that such a diet be provided Kahane, who is serving a sentence for parole violation at the minimum security prison, had Jensen brought before the District Court in Lewisburg, Pa, to answer the charges.
According to a statement by Kahane released by the JDL here, Jenson told the court he refused to purchase butter, choose, soups, bread or meat because of “budgetary limitations.” Kahane also charged that Jenson refused to purchase kosher frozen TV dinners at 10 cents a meal which, Kahane said, were “subsidized by national Jewish groups.” He accused the prison superintendent of “anti-Semitism.”
