President Kennedy today signed Congress’ Joint Resolution designating April 21, 1963, as a day of commemoration to memorialize the Jewish martyrs of the Warsaw Ghetto and other Nazi victims.
The White House made known that the pen with which the resolution was signed was being sent to Moses I. Socachevsky; president of the Jewish Nazi Victims Organization of America, Inc., to be permanently regained by that organization. This group, made up entirely of persons, presently Americans who personally suffered at Nazi hands, originated the idea of the commemorative day.
