)The government’s housing and employment program for the construction of some 30,000 housing units within the next five months, which was presented to the Knesset by Mrs. Golda Myerson, Minister of Labor, was adopted by the parliament last night. One of the chief features of the plan is the establishment of a central housing authority to administer the program.
Government plans now call for construction of three different sizes of housing units. One would provide four one-family units to the dunam (quarter acre); somewhat larger units would be built two to the dunam, and the largest unit for large family requirements would occupy a dunam. Immigrants with capital, now in camps awaiting the availability of housing facilities, have agreed to invest in the housing program and will receive larger homes than the standard unit, Mrs. Myerson disclosed.
