The Israel Parliament will meet in special session tomorrow, called from adjournment by the demands of the Opposition. The call for the meeting was issued by the presidium of the Knesset after 37 members of the Herut, General Zionists, National Religious Party and Agudas Israel–more than the constitutionally required one-fourth of the Knesset membership–signed a petition asking for it.
The agenda of the special session will include three points a foreign policy debate, report on the Shattah Prison break, and the government’s decision to sell a nationalized chemical and fertilizer plant to private interests.
The issue which precipitated the demand for a special debate was the favorable vote of Israel’s delegation at the recent emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly on the joint Arab resolution urging UN mediation of Middle East conflicts.
The Cabinet, meanwhile, announced today that Mrs. Golda Meir, Foreign Minister, would head Israel’s delegation to the next regular Assembly, which opens in New York next week. In addition to Mrs. Meir and permanent members of the delegation, six Knesset deputies–four of the government coalition and two representing Opposition parties–will make up the delegation.
