The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported today that the Ku-Klux-Klan is about to emerge in Virginia under a new name, that of the “American Confederate Army.”
Klansmen will discard the traditional masks and robes and hoods for confederate caps and neckties bearing the flag of the confederacy. Bill Hendrix, Grand Dragon of the Florida Klan, said he abandoned plans to re-activate the Klan in Virginia because of “all that trouble in North Carolina” (where Klansmen were prosecuted under a Federal indictment). A number of confederate “colonels” have already been enlisted in Virginia and activation will be under way shortly, Mr. Hendrix stated.
