Judge Louis E. Levinthal, honorary president of the American Jewish League for Israel and former president of the Zionist Organization of America, sailed yesterday for Israel, on the SS Israel, to attend the forthcoming meetings of the World Zionist Actions Committee. Ezra Shapiro, president of the League, who is also a member of the Actions Committee, will join Judge Levinthal in Jerusalem in two weeks.
“I am happy to be going this time as a representative of an organized ‘independent’ Zionist group,” Judge Levinthal stated. “At the last Zionist Congress I was elected to the Actions Committee as an unorganized independent. Since then, of course, the American Jewish League for Israel has come into being.”
