The death of Dr. Leopold Auer, celebrated Jewish violin teacher, has caused expressions of sorrow from many of his famous pupils who are now living in this country. Among those who eulogized Dr. Auer yesterday were Mischa Elman, Toscha Seidel and Ruth Breton.
“I think Dr. Auer took with him a great art”, Mr. Elman, who is now in San Francisco, stated. “He leaves a wonderful memory. Personally I am very grateful for all he did for me. His influence was tremendous. It is up to his students to carry on and immortalize the new school of music he created — the Russian school. I have lost one of my greatest friends and the world has lost a truly great teacher”.
