Lewis French, Palestine Land Commissioner has resigned as director of the British Government’s Development Scheme and his resignation was accepted on November 8th, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns today from an official source.
The resignation of Mr. French is believed to be due to modifications which were proposed in the plan which he outlined and submitted to the government in June.
Mr. French was also a member of the Executive Council of the Palestine Government by virtue of his position as Land Commissioner.
It is rumored that Mr. French’s resignation is also due in part to differences between him and the Palestine High Commissioner. Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, it is stated, during his recent visit to London, disapproved many of the recommendations made in the report of Mr. French.
