A bill to make it a crime to discriminate against an individual for reasons of color, race or religion in Britain received its first reading last night in the House of Commons.
Fenner Brockway, Labor MP, who is sponsor of the measure, said he had introduced the measure seven times before it reached the first reading stage. He explained that it now had influential support of three major parties. The bill also would make it an offense for anyone to incite publicly contempt or hatred of any person because of color, race or religion.
