A large number of Jews were beaten and some property was damaged in Tarnapol, East Galicia, in two days of excesses organized by members of the National Democratic party after a fight between a Jews and a Pole in which the latter was stabbed, it was reported here today.

An official communique said the Jew had provoked the quarrel and had stabbed the Pole in order to prevent him from participating in a football game against a Jewish club. The Jewish press criticized the authorities, charging that the race of the persons involved was deliberately given, and pointing out that the victim was not a member of the team which was scheduled to play against the Jewish club.

Deputy Emil Sommerstein gave notice that he would question the Government in the Sejm on the reaction of the authorities to the incident.
