The “best guarantee” of Israel’s security and future is mass immigration, Premier David Ben Gurion declared here last night at a rally called to push the sale of a public issue of housing bonds to finance the construction of homes for newcomers.
Mr. Ben Gurion had a word of advice for Jews abroad, too. Immigration to Israel, he asserted, was the best guarantee of security for Jews now living outside Israel, both those in the free nations and those living under conditions of oppression.
The Premier predicted that “redemption day” would dawn for the 4,000,000 Jews “sealed off from the outside world in Eastern Europe” when the gates of their countries are opened for emigration. He suggested that they would “come to us if we show enough skill to absorb them properly.”
