Tribute to Dr. Isaac Schwarzbart, the late Zionist leader, was paid by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, and Dr. Emanuel Neumann at a memorial meeting held here tonight, arranged jointly by the World Confederation of General Zionists, the Zionist Organization of America, the World Jewish Congress and the Club of Polish Jews. Other speakers included Professor Isaac Lewin and Leon Ilutovich. Dr. Schwarzbart, who held a leading position in the World Jewish Congress and was a member of the Polish Parliament in pre-war years, died in New York a month ago.
(A similar meeting was held tonight in London and was addressed by Dr. S. Levenberg for the World Jewish Congress and the Jewish Agency; Dr. J. Teicher, lecturer in Judaism, at Cambridge University; and Jacob Halevy, chairman of the World Jewish Congress British section. Dr. Teicher recalled Dr. Schwarzbart’s efforts for the rights of Jewish servicemen in Polish forces and his welfare work for Polish Jews.)
